Starting from the 2025–2026 school year, all public schools in the UAE will introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a mandatory subject for students from kindergarten through Grade 12. The move aims to equip young learners with essential skills in digital literacy, AI applications, and ethical technology use.
The curriculum will be tailored to different age groups. Younger students will have AI lessons every two weeks, while older students in higher grades will attend weekly classes. Instead of traditional exams, students will engage in hands-on projects that foster critical thinking, creativity, and responsible use of AI technologies.
Over 1,000 trained teachers have been assigned to lead the AI program across schools. This initiative is part of the UAE’s broader strategy to prepare a future-ready workforce and position the country as a regional leader in artificial intelligence and innovation.
