The release of International Mobile Telephony (IMT) spectrum to enhance next-generation mobile broadband services was the main topic of discussion. The committee emphasized how crucial spectrum policy is to advancing Pakistan’s digital revolution, which is anticipated to increase exports and job possibilities. The need of employing the finest international methods to construct Pakistan’s spectrum strategy was emphasized, according to Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, who praised the insights offered by GSMA and industry executives. In order to support the development of digital infrastructure, there was also a focus on expediting the spectrum release procedure. With the goal of making Pakistan a formidable rival in the global digital economy, the Ministry of Finance stated its commitment to fostering innovation, investments, and expansion in the telecom sector.
In order to ensure the successful and thorough execution of the Digital Transformation Plan, Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif previously instructed the federal government to engage in meaningful consultations with provincial governments. The prime minister stated that the digitalization of the economy will aid in fostering openness while presiding over a weekly review discussion on the cashless and digital economy. Providing the people with comfort and convenience at no additional expense is the main goal of the Federal Government’s Digital Transformation Plan.
