The Austrian Space Forum, a private space research organization in Vienna, Austria, will coordinate the mission. To simulate the human presence on the Moon or Mars, 17 organizations from five continents—Africa, America, Asia, Australia, and Europe—are collaborating for the first time. There are over 200 scientists participating from 25 different countries.
The Space Habitat Center’s Zone 88, a Special Economic Zone, will house Oman’s habitat. Building on Oman’s previous analog mission, AMADEE-18, which was conducted in Dhofar in 2018, the project intends to undertake cross-disciplinary experiments in astrobiology, engineering, and planetary science in order to replicate human presence on the Moon and Mars.
