UAE Diplomatic Advisor Hails Trump for Ending Gaza War

Dr Anwar Gargash, diplomatic advisor to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed, praised US President Donald Trump for his role in ending the two-year Gaza war, calling the ceasefire a historic step that has “saved the region from unending escalation.”

Writing on X, Dr Gargash showcased Trump’s leadership at the Sharm El Sheikh summit in Egypt, where he formally supported the peace plan and rallied international backing. “President Donald Trump deserves recognition, as he halted the war in Gaza, supported the peace plan, and made it the official American initiative,” he said.

The ceasefire comes after a devastating conflict that killed over 67,800 Palestinians in Israeli attacks and saw more than 1,200 Israelis killed during the initial Hamas assault on October 7, 2023, which also left 240 people abducted. The first phase of the peace agreement included the release of the last 20 surviving Israeli hostages by Hamas and hundreds of Palestinian detainees by Israel, some returning to Gaza or the West Bank and others relocating to Egypt.

Dr Gargash called for a focus on Gaza’s reconstruction and the long-term pursuit of peace. “After two years of pain and suffering and years of injustice, oppression, and marginalization, peace remains the greatest dream for the people of Gaza,” he wrote. “The time has come for the cannons to fall silent and the voices of mercy and reason to rise.”

He stressed that the future must go beyond simply bandaging wounds and instead seek a permanent solution based on truth, justice, and dignity for Palestinians, restoring hope and stability to the region.
