In the historical drama “Nuremberg,” Rami Malek portrays physician Douglas Kelley. Rami Malek claims that he had to work hard to land his most recent gig. At the Cinema Society showing of Nuremberg earlier this week, the Oscar winner told Page Six, “I put myself out there, and I’m sure there were a number of other actors up for the role, but I really tracked it down and I fought for it.” The star of Bohemian Rhapsody claimed that the encounter brought back memories of his early acting career, when minor parts were crucial.
He remarked, “It brought me back to my youth when the small jobs would come in and you were just so elated.” “It was enough to remind me of how wonderful this art form truly is to feel that emotion again… that it hadn’t died.” Based on the 2013 book The Nazi and the Psychiatrist, the historical drama centers on Malek’s character, psychiatrist Douglas Kelley, who was tasked with determining whether Nazi leader Hermann Göring (Russell Crowe) was competent to stand trial at the Nuremberg Trials following World War II. Malek said that prior to coming on, he was not well-versed in the actual events.
He remarked, “I think I knew as much as anybody who studied history, but once I read the book, I was immediately taken by it.” I was certain that would make an intriguing movie. Candice Bergen, John Slattery, and Michael Shannon are also featured in the movie.
