Meet Mahidhaar, a child from Dubai who can bowl with both hands

The 12-year-old’s special talent has already drawn attention in the local cricket scene. Dubai: Talent frequently manifests itself in unexpected ways in cricket. Mahidhaar Dommaraju, a young man from Dubai, found that spark in his exceptional ability to bowl quickly with both hands, a talent that few people in the world possess. In cricket, being ambidextrous is uncommon. At the international level, Kamindu Mendis of Sri Lanka gained notoriety for spinning the ball both ways, although it is nearly unheard of for a fast bowler to swap arms with comparable speed and precision.

Mahidhaar’s father, Ramprasad Dommaraju, realized his son was unique when he first witnessed him bowling with both arms at the age of six. Ramprasad, who played club cricket in Chennai, adds, “I noticed it when he was about six or seven years old.” He was playing tennis at the moment, but he started copying bowlers like Mohammed Shami, Lockie Ferguson, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar after watching the IPL. After witnessing Mitchell Johnson and Mitchell Starc one day, he abruptly grabbed up the ball and bowled left-arm quickly and flawlessly. I was in disbelief. What began as a curious event evolved into an indication of true athletic talent. Ramprasad saw right away that this was not an isolated incident. He continued to bowl consistently with both his left and right arms. I realized then that we needed to develop this ability,” he says. Special aptitude Mahidhaar, a 12-year-old who currently plays for two UAE academies, Desert Cubs and Legends Academy, has already drawn attention in the local cricket scene. According to his father, “people just stop and watch whenever he bowls with both hands.” “Coaches from the UK, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and India have all stated that they have never witnessed someone bowl with such control and speed using both arms.” Mahidhaar has traveled to Oman, India, and Sri Lanka, where his exceptional talent continues to garner interest. According to Ramprasad, “players and coaches come up to appreciate him even during matches when he takes wickets bowling right-arm or left-arm.”

Rare dedication is frequently needed to support a rare talent. Ramprasad has entirely committed to his son’s cricket adventure by giving up his work. He says, “I quit my job last year so I could take him to training six days a week.” “He’s also putting a lot of effort into his fitness, swimming and boxing every day to increase strength and stamina.” Online education Mahidhaar has enrolled in an online school in India to assist him manage his hectic cricket schedule and academics. Ramprasad says, “The school has been very supportive.” “They set up extra lessons if he is absent for training or games. It has been quite beneficial.

Ramprasad’s wife, an oral surgeon in Dubai, continues to provide for the family as he oversees his son’s cricket schedule. He continues, “It’s a team effort.” “We’re making every effort to support Mahi in realizing his dream.” Muhammad Ijaz, a senior coach at Desert Cubs Cricket Academy and a former first-class cricket player from Pakistan, is one of those keeping an eye on Mahidhaar’s development. Ijaz remarks, “He’s a hardworking boy with a very rare gift.” In cricket, it is uncommon to bowl both right-arm and left-arm quickly while maintaining the same pace and control. He can play at a very high level if he maintains his fitness and attention.

Mahidhaar is unique, according to Ijaz, who has trained hundreds of young athletes. He claims, “I’ve seen ambidextrous spinners before, but never a fast bowler who can do this.” “He’s really unique.” Mahidhaar aspires to play in the IPL and represent India, just like many young cricket players in the UAE. His sources of inspiration are obvious. One day, Mahidhaar hopes to play for both Royal Challengers Bengaluru and India. “My role models are Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli.” To fulfill that objective, I’m putting a lot of effort into my hitting, bowling, and conditioning.
