Jonathan Bailey, star of “Bridgerton,” sobs as he remembers his late teacher Jonathan Bailey considered the devastating loss of a teacher. The actor revealed in an interview with Esquire UK that Dr. David Brunton, his former instructor, committed suicide in 2007. Bailey described Brunton as one of his “male role models growing up,” saying that he “saw me for who I was.” He continued by calling his late instructor “just the most incredible, inspiring person.” The actress from Bridgerton stated, “The reason I’m telling you so much about him is that he tragically took his own life when I was on my gap year.”
stating, “It was so upsetting and confusing.” “I was fortunate to learn from him, and he played such a significant role in my life. This guy was obviously having mental health issues, so I have to retrofit them. Bailey said, “It felt like a very formative and bruising time.” Additionally, Bailey discussed Brunton’s influence on his life, stating, “I think about him a lot.”
“I remember that we studied Othello in school, and he would constantly ask me to read aloud to him. I consider my performance in Othello at the National [Theatre] to be my kind of breakthrough role. “I believe I made a connection between those two things in my grief and confusion,” Jonathan Bailey continued.
