The Sri Lankan cricket board’s decision to extend its tour to Pakistan is praised by federal ministers

Attaullah Tarar, the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, thanked the Sri Lankan cricket team from the bottom of his heart on his X handle. The Sri Lankan team has consistently backed cricket in Pakistan, the Minister added. “Keep up the sportsman spirit,” he wrote in his greeting to the Sri Lankan cricket team. “We are honored by your presence,” he said, thanking the crew once more. In addition, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif commended the Sri Lankan cricket team for their performance and congratulated them for adhering to their resolve to travel to Pakistan.

Khawaja Asif conveyed Pakistan’s appreciation for the team’s continued visit to Pakistan and wished them well. The team management notified Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) earlier this morning that a number of players on the national team’s current tour of Pakistan have asked to return home due to safety concerns. In order to guarantee the safety and wellbeing of each member of the touring team, SLC promptly contacted the players and reassured them that all such issues are being appropriately addressed in close conjunction with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the necessary authorities. In this regard, SLC has directed all players, team management, and support personnel to proceed with the tour as planned.

To guarantee that the tour proceeds uninterrupted, Sri Lanka Cricket will send replacements right away if any player or member of the touring group decides to return to Sri Lanka in violation of SLC’s order to do so. A formal assessment will be carried out to evaluate the acts of any player, players, or member of the support staff who return in defiance of SLC’s instructions. After the evaluation is complete, a suitable decision will be made.
