Muscat: As part of its increased selection of entrance permits, the Sultanate of Oman has created a new cultural visa. The purpose of the cultural visa, according to a statement released by the Royal Oman Police on X, is to establish clear legal channels for foreign nationals to temporarily dwell and operate in the arts and culture.
The Cultural Visa: What Is It?
A culture visa is a type of entry permit that allows foreigners to enter Oman for cultural purposes only. The applicable hosting authority—such as the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, academic institutions, or cultural centers—issues it upon request and is in charge of taking care of the applicant while they are there.
Who Can Apply for a Cultural Visa?
Foreigners traveling to Oman to engage in or carry out cultural activities are eligible for the visa, including: Temporary stay for training in the arts or cultural interaction Collaboration in academia or research in the domains of legacy, culture, and the arts Attending conferences and festivals related to literature, academia, or culture Participation in or planning of artistic and cultural events and exhibitions Additionally, a specific clause permits the issue of a cultural joining visa for the foreign applicant’s spouse or first-degree relatives who are coming to Oman for cultural reasons.
Time and Costs
The following situations may qualify for a cultural visa: OMR 50 for a year OMR 50 annually for five years OMR 50 annually for ten years The visa expires if it is not used within three months of its issuance.
