Pakistan Shaheens defeat Sri Lanka A by 5 runs in the Rising Star Asia Cup semifinal

On Sunday, the Pakistan Shaheens will play Bangladesh A in the championship game. The Sri Lankans lost the match against Pakistan Shaheens by five runs after only managing to score 148 runs while chasing a difficult target of 154 runs. Saad Masood and Sufyan Muqeem both claimed three wickets. Lasith Croospulle scored 27 and Vishen Halambage scored 29, but Milan Rathnayake’s 40-run innings was in vain. Notably, one Sri Lankan player was dismissed for a duck, and eight failed to score in double figures.

The Pakistani Shaheens scored 153 runs for nine wickets while batting first. With 39 runs, Ghazi Ghouri was the leading scorer, followed by Ahmed Daniyal (22) and Maaz Sadaqat (23). Sri Lanka needed 15 runs in the last over. After Ubaid Shah threw two consecutive wide deliveries, Rathnayake stepped back in his crease and hit a boundary, allowing the Sri Lankans to score three runs off of only one delivery. By removing Rathnayake LBW, Ubaid ultimately guaranteed Pakistan’s victory. Pakistan advanced to the final as the Sri Lankan player failed to deliver the final ball, which needed six runs.
