The UAE has announced a private sector New Year’s holiday for 2026

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization releases a New Year’s Day announcement. Dubai: January 1, 2026, will be an official holiday for all private sector workers in the United Arab Emirates, according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE). The holiday is in line with the UAE Cabinet’s decision regarding authorized official holidays for both the public and private sectors. The offices will reopen on Friday, January 2, 2026, as the first day of the year falls on a Thursday. Holiday for the public sector In the meantime, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources declared on Thursday that the federal government sector will observe New Year’s Day 2026 as a holiday.

Thursday, January 1, 2026, will be the holiday, and Friday, January 2, 2026, will be a day for federal government employees to work remotely, unless their jobs require them to do otherwise.
