A man was discovered dead inside an apartment elevator shaft after going missing for ten days

Bhopal: When the decomposing body of a 77-year-old man who had been missing for about ten days was discovered within the lift shaft of a residential complex in Bhopal, police began looking into how he fell into the duct and whether there had been any maintenance or safety violations. The body was found at Chinar Dream City in the Misrod area, according to NDTV, after locals complained of a strong, unpleasant odor near the elevator. The body was discovered at the bottom of the shaft when a maintenance crew raised the lift vehicle.Based on his attire and footwear, the family recognized the man as Pritam Giri. According to police, the man told his family he was going to Mandideep when he left the house one afternoon, but he never came back. The same evening, a missing person’s complaint was filed, and the following day, the Misrod police station received a formal complaint. A case of unnatural death has been filed, and a post-mortem report is pending, Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajnish Kashyap informed ANI. According to preliminary results, the individual may have fallen into the lift shaft and sustained chest injuries.

In order to ascertain when the elevator stopped working, what repairs were made, and whether any mistakes led to the event, police said they will send notices to the housing society’s maintenance team and the lift operator. According to the Times of India, the lift hasn’t worked since the man vanished and the body was discovered while repairs were being made.
