Tanveer Pasta, the president of the Gul Plaza Union, has cautioned that certain people are gathering money on behalf of Gul Plaza while making it clear that no money is being requested from the general public. Tanveer Pasta gave specifics, stating that Gul Plaza has not received nor plans to receive funding from any non-governmental organization. He added that the Sindh government is providing support through the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and that money is being fraudulently collected under the name of Gul Plaza. The head of the Gul Plaza Union claimed that their name was being abused and described the conduct as blatantly fraudulent. “The union is fully present and cooperating with all ongoing investigations,” he continued.
It is noteworthy that market organizations have been more vigilant in the wake of the sad Gul Plaza tragedy and the authorities’ notices; fire safety measures are currently being implemented in a number of marketplaces. More than 200 fire safety extinguishers have been erected in various commercial areas throughout Karachi following the devastating Gul Plaza fire in an effort to enhance emergency response and fire prevention. According to the president of the Karachi Mobile and Electronics Dealers Association, emergency steps are being implemented to protect traders and enterprises, and fire safety extinguishers are being erected in every market while adhering to normal operating protocols.
