Mouni Roy, a well-known Indian actress, has opened up about a disturbing experience she had at a recent event in Karnal, Haryana. On Saturday, January 24, the Naagin actor disclosed on her Instagram Stories that she was harassed by a number of audience members, including older guys. Mouni Roy said how men came up to the stage and put their hands on her waist while pretending to take pictures, expressing her disdain. She claims they turned hostile when she rejected their advances. The 40-year-old actress clarified that as she got to the platform, two males in the front row started calling her names, making offensive gestures, and making crude remarks.
The Bollywood actress claims that they threw flowers at her when she motioned for them to stop. She concluded her performance in spite of the upsetting situation, pointing out that the men remained at the front of the stage. She commented, “If someone like me has to go through this, I can only imagine what it must be like for new girls just starting out,” raising concerns for young women just beginning their careers. I want the authorities to do something about this unacceptable behavior because I am traumatized and humiliated.
She claimed in a later post that numerous “uncles” started taking low-angle videos of her while she was on the raised platform. “I adore my nation, its citizens, and its customs, but this? the heart. the privilege of being a man. She went on, “I never post anything negative about what I go through, but I have no words for this.” She concluded by expressing her dissatisfaction with the disregard for performers. “I have no insults or words to explain this behavior. We go to these occasions as actors to join the bride and groom in celebration. They torment us in this way despite the fact that we are their guests. Yuck.
Mouni Roy most recently starred in the OTT espionage thriller Salakaar. She costarred with Sanjay Dutt and Sunny Singh in last year’s The Virgin Tree (formerly known as The Bhootni).
