Hundreds of people attend colorful festivities at the Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate in Dubai. Dubai Despite Monday being a working day, hundreds of Indian expatriates in the UAE braved the cold and rain to celebrate their nation’s 77th Republic Day at the Indian diplomatic missions. Community members participated in flag-raising rituals at the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Indian Consulate in Dubai on January 26, 1950, the day the Indian Constitution went into effect. Cultural events honoring the liberation fighters, particularly Dr. BR Ambedkar, the drafter of the Indian Constitution, came next.
Deepak Mittal, the Indian ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, unfurled the Indian flag at the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi. The flag-raising ceremony at the Indian Consulate in Dubai was postponed for fifteen minutes earlier because of the inclement weather. At 7:15 a.m., Satish Kumar Sivan, the Indian consul general in Dubai, unfurled the tricolor. Excerpts from Indian President Droupadi Murmu’s Republic Day message were read aloud by both ambassadors. The Consul General commended the enormous number of Indian expatriates who attended the event in spite of the bad weather and the fact that it was a working day in his address.
We reaffirm our commitment to the principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity as we unfold our sacred Tiranga today. Indians both domestically and internationally are still motivated by these timeless principles, which unite us in a common goal and optimism. “Our Constitution is a living testament to the hopes and dreams of millions of people who fought for freedom and a better future, not just a legal document,” he declared.
Sincere appreciation
The Consul General conveyed the Indian people’s “deepest gratitude to the leadership and people of the United Arab Emirates for their unstinting support and friendship.”This collaboration serves as an example of how two countries can advance together with respect, trust, and common goals, he said.
The remarkable connection between India and the United Arab Emirates, which has developed into one of the most vibrant and forward-thinking bilateral alliances in the world, is something we are keeping in mind as we commemorate Republic Day. Our connections to the United Arab Emirates are based on centuries-old maritime networks and mutual cultural exchanges. This historical continuity has now grown into a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that includes people-to-people interactions, trade, investment, energy, technology, defense, and space. He pointed out that in 2025–2026, the partnership achieved a number of new benchmarks that demonstrate ambition and a common goal.
“Bilateral commerce between India and the UAE has now exceeded $100 billion, a noteworthy accomplishment that demonstrates the confidence and vitality of our business relationship. By 2032, both countries intend to treble this trade volume to $200 billion, indicating further economic integration and growth on both sides. As Sivan noted, “these gains are not abstract statistics; they represent jobs created, products traded, markets expanded, and livelihoods transformed.” He emphasized that the bilateral relationship reached new heights last week during the visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates.
A number of agreements were struck, including a historic 10-year LNG supply deal that strengthened India’s energy security and established the UAE as a significant long-term energy partner. In addition to energy, both countries inked agreements and letters of intent on infrastructure investment, defense cooperation, and space technology cooperation. These programs show common goals in the cutting-edge, sophisticated manufacturing, and aerospace industries. Our alliance is positioned at the vanguard of technical diplomacy through discussions on digital infrastructure collaborations, such as the investigation of “digital embassies” and safe data exchange. The CG noted that when taken as a whole, these efforts show that India and the UAE are not just working together but are co-creating a future characterized by innovation, resiliency, and shared prosperity.
Thank you to foreigners
One of the biggest and most varied Indian diasporas in the world is represented by the sizable and active Indian community in the United Arab Emirates. The Consul General stated, “You are professionals, entrepreneurs, innovators, educators, caregivers, and cultural ambassadors—contributing to every aspect of life in this land.” “Your accomplishments have an impact on the Indian community as well as the larger UAE society, enhancing its multicultural fabric.” Your accomplishments are a testament to UAE’s faith in your abilities and the honesty with which you conduct yourself. We applaud all of your achievements,” he declared.
He noted that Indians celebrate the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram this year, which is a very important milestone. “Bankim Chandra Chatterjee wrote Vande Mataram, which has endured throughout history as a hymn of bravery, devotion, and love for the homeland. He continued, “Its words inspired generations and reverberated through the hearts of freedom fighters.”
