In light of friend Victoria Beckham’s continuing family conflicts with her oldest son, Brooklyn Beckham, former Spice Girl Melanie “Mel” C Chisholm has discussed her choice to raise her daughter away from the spotlight. Chisholm expressed her relief that her 16-year-old daughter, Scarlett, has grown up mostly out of the spotlight and has no plans to pursue a career in music in an interview with The Sunday Times that was published on Saturday.
“So relieved,” Chisholm remarked, adding that she deliberately chose early on to keep her child out of the spotlight. Being in the shadow of a successful parent is really difficult. She is not in the spotlight with Scarlett. When she was a newborn, I made that choice. Chisholm mentioned acquaintances who took a different path, but she did not identify Victoria. She remarked, “Obviously, I have friends who handle it very differently, each to their own, no judgment at all.” “But I didn’t feel comfortable making that decision for her, probably because of my experiences with fame.”
Following Brooklyn Beckham’s strongly worded speech last week, in which he accused his parents, Victoria and David Beckham, of manipulating media narratives and destroying family connections, the Beckham family has come under fire. Additionally, Brooklyn stated that he does not now want to get back together and that they tried to meddle in his marriage to actress Nicola Peltz.
