The Trump administration’s decision to suspend the processing of immigrant visas for 75 countries, including Pakistan, has been challenged in a US court. A group of civil rights organizations has filed a lawsuit against the US State Department in a federal court in New York. The petitioners argue that this policy seriously undermines the decades-old foundation of US immigration law. The decision to suspend the processing of immigrant visas is effective from January 21. Apart from Pakistan, the citizens of the countries affected by this decision include Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bhutan, Bosnia and other countries.
