According to the computer giant, full-time employees will experience an average wage raise of $1,600 annually, with the average pay rising to almost $23 per hour. Beginning in 2026, the corporation will reduce the weekly payments made by employees by 34% by reducing the cost of its entry-level health care plan to $5 per week plus $5 for co-pays. At the end of the previous year, Amazon employed almost 1.5 million people, including full-time and part-time. Additionally, the business employs independent contractors and temporary labor on a seasonal basis, especially during the important holiday season.
During the holiday shopping frenzy last year, Amazon employees at seven U.S. locations went on strike after union representatives said the company had not shown up for contract negotiations. Workers were demonstrating against Amazon for allegedly treating them unfairly. In order to resolve allegations from a federal agency that it failed to prevent back issues and other ergonomic ailments among its employees, Amazon also agreed in December to install safety measures at all of its U.S. locations.
