Pakistani military personnel ‘block’ Afghan Taliban and Khawarij cross-border attacks: ISPR

Khawarij staged cowardly strikes at four areas in Spin Boldak in the early hours of October 15, but Pakistani soldiers successfully repulsed all of the attacks, according to the Afghan Taliban, the Pakistani military’s public relations department. The attacks were executed from separated settlements, demonstrating utter contempt for local populations and public protection. On their side of the border, the Afghan Taliban also demolished the Pak-Afghan Friendship Gate, which the ISPR claimed demonstrated a mindset hostile to intertribal collaboration and trade.

“Intelligence reports indicate Taliban and Khawarij terroristes are regrouping at various staging points along the border,” the ISPR stated, adding that 15 to 20 Taliban terrorists were killed and several others were injured in the retaliatory strike. The statement also disclosed that terrorists attempted to strike Pakistani border checkpoints in the Kurram Sector on the evening of October 14–15, but the effort was effectively foiled. Twenty-five to thirty Taliban and Khawarij militants were killed during the counter-attack, which also destroyed six tanks and eight Afghan checkpoints.

Taliban allegations of starting the war or seizing any Pakistani positions or equipment were categorically denied by the ISPR, which called them “baseless propaganda.” It underlined that the armed forces are unwavering in their commitment to protecting the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and reiterated that the Pakistan Army is ready to respond forcefully and decisively to any act of aggression.
