Starlink is rolling out its new Direct-to-Cell (D2C) service, offering users the ability to send texts, share locations, and access emergency 911 services directly via Starlink satellites, even in areas without cellular coverage. The service is now live in the U.S., with international expansion plans underway.
For non-T-Mobile users, the service costs $20 per month, while T-Mobile customers get it free on select plans or at discounted rates ranging from $10 to $15 per month. No extra hardware is required, and compatible devices can connect through eSIM, supporting recent models from Apple, Samsung, Google, and Motorola.
Looking ahead, Starlink and T-Mobile aim to expand coverage to Canada, Mexico, and other regions. Future updates are expected to include voice calls, multimedia messaging, and apps optimized for satellite connectivity, making it a promising option for staying connected in remote and underserved areas.
