After four years of employment, the former employee received end-of-service benefits. Dubai: After four years of employment, the Abu Dhabi Labour Court of First Instance ordered a corporation to pay a former employee Dh222,605 in unpaid dues and end-of-service perks, according to Al Khaleej Arabic daily. In addition, the corporation was ordered by the court to provide him with an experience certificate and cover his legal expenses up to the awarded sum. According to court records, the worker filed a complaint alleging wrongful termination and underpaid benefits with the appropriate labor authorities. The dispute was submitted to court after attempts at mediation failed.
The employee requested Dh565,000 in total, which included Dh358,741.94 in unpaid salary, Dh75,000 in compensation for being fired unfairly, Dh49,808.22 in unused leave pay, Dh25,000 in lieu of notice, and Dh31,500 in end-of-service bonus. In addition to Dh51,153 in reimbursement for work-related expenses backed by invoices, the plaintiff also sought Dh26,000 for housing and transportation allowance. The plaintiff’s total service duration, according to the court, was four years, five months, and twenty-seven days. He was entitled to Dh20,000 in housing allowance and Dh31,452 in dues, according to an expert evaluation. A signed document proving the employee had paid Dh51,153 in business-related expenses was also verified as authentic by the report.
The court ruled in absentia, ordering the firm to pay Dh222,605, provide an experience certificate, and cover expenses within the judgment’s scope while rejecting additional claims because the company did not appear through a legal representative or offer evidence to the contrary.
