The Al Khawaneej Police Station had authority over the incident. Dubai: According to court documents, a 20-year-old Gulf national was fined Dh1,000 by a Dubai traffic court for causing physical harm and property damage in a road accident caused by driving against the flow of traffic. The defendant was found to have driven his car carelessly and recklessly, entering a road in the wrong way without making sure it was clear. The occurrence took place within the jurisdiction of Al Khawaneej Police Station.
The court determined that his conduct showed a disregard for fundamental road safety regulations and the need to take appropriate safety precautions when driving. Emarat Al Youm claims that the maneuver resulted in a collision with a motorcycle, injuring the rider and damaging the vehicle. An official sketch of the crash, traffic accident records, and on-site examinations all supported the chronology of events. Prosecutors sought punishment under the UAE’s traffic legislation and its executive rules, as well as elements of the federal penal code, for the defendant’s alleged inadvertent endangerment of another person’s bodily safety and property damage.
According to criminal procedure legislation, the court proceeded with the case in absentia because the defendant did not show up for court despite being properly notified. The police report, accident records, the injured motorcyclist’s medical report, and the certified accident diagram were all cited by the court as conclusive evidence that proved the defendant’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. The court issued a single penalty for the more serious accusation, noting that the two offenses were inextricably related. Given the defendant’s youth, it decided to impose a monetary fine, ending the case with a Dh1,000 fine.
