A new study by Stanford University shows that artificial intelligence is reshaping the job market, creating a sharp divide between workers who benefit and those who lose out. Young professionals aged 22 to 25 are particularly affected, with employment in AI-exposed roles like customer service and software development dropping by 13%, even as overall job numbers grow.
Experienced workers and those in high-skill roles that use AI to enhance human abilities are seeing more stable or growing opportunities. Jobs that require creativity, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills remain in demand, as these are areas where AI is less likely to replace humans.
Freelancers face a mixed situation. AI has reduced demand for writing and translation work by 20–50%, but roles related to AI, such as chatbot development and machine learning, are growing. Experts say that adapting to AI, focusing on creativity, emotional intelligence, and continuous learning, will be key for workers to thrive in the changing job market.
