The Pakistan Meteorological Department reports that Islamabad and Rawalpindi experienced earthquake vibrations of magnitude 5.8 on Monday. According to the Seismological Center, the epicentre of the earthquake was in North-Western Kashmir, and it happened at a depth of ten km. People had to flee their homes and workplaces due to tremors. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties. An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 and a depth of 12 kilometers was felt in Karachi and the adjacent areas earlier in December 2025. The Seismological Center reports that at 12:51 a.m., earthquake tremors were detected throughout the city.
SITE Area, Saddar, Clifton, DHA Phase 8, and PECHS were among the locations where tremors were detected. The earthquake was felt by residents of PECHS, Shah Faisal Colony, Liaquatabad, and Buffer Zone; residents in Liaquatabad reported that the shocks were very powerful.
