Analyst Jukan believes that Android-based PCs may be coming soon. He specifically refers to Android 16 PCs. Based on data from the Android 16 codebase, reports indicate Qualcomm is attempting to make sure its Snapdragon X and X Elite series CPUs are compatible with the most recent version of Android. In an effort to create a single operating system for tablets, laptops, and gadgets with bigger screens—like Chromebooks—Google has also disclosed plans to combine ChromeOS and Android. This finding is particularly pertinent because Qualcomm’s attempts to make the Snapdragon X series compatible with Android 16 seem to be focused on these kinds of devices.
Given that Chrome OS-powered devices have not been able to establish themselves in the mainstream market, Android PCs may be the breakthrough that consumers and app developers have been waiting for. Expectations should be kept in check, though, as there is currently no hard data on the release or development of any Android PCs.
