Anthropic targeting commercial clients with Claude 4.5, claiming improved capabilities.

The AI firm sponsored by Alphabet and Amazon.com is competing with rivals to develop models that can consistently run software and finish multi-step tasks, which are essential for AI agents that can carry out activities for people. Made In internal testing, the Sonnet 4.5 model built a web application from the ground up, and according to Chief Product Officer Mike Krieger, one customer had the AI chatbot code operate on its own for 30 hours, compared to seven hours for another client using Anthropic’s previous Claude Opus 4. He stated that instead of aiming for a viral consumer moment, Anthropic is focusing on business clients and power users.

According to the business, Claude 4.5 scored around 60% on a standard that measures operating-system dexterity, compared to about 40% for previous models, demonstrating its superior computer skills and strength in science and finance. Chief Science Officer Jared Kaplan stated, “If you’re not a coder, it’s much more visceral when you just see the model using a computer the way a person does.” In a separate announcement on Monday, Microsoft announced that it would be implementing new Anthropic-powered Microsoft 365 Copilot capabilities, such as “Office Agent” in Copilot chat and “Agent Mode” in Word and Excel, with PowerPoint to follow. In an effort to expand beyond its longtime partner OpenAI, Microsoft announced last week that it will integrate Anthropic’s models into Microsoft 365 Copilot.

Claude has been positioned for workplace use with safeguards that, according to Anthropic, which was developed by former OpenAI leaders, decrease dangerous outputs. The business has been pitching Claude’s coding and data-analysis abilities to teams and regulated industries who require models that function with a variety of software programs. AI Weekly covers everything from smart airport corridors to AI giants constructing new data centers in the United States. According to Krieger, the organization prioritizes consistent, dependable performance over extended assignments above brief demonstrations.
