Benedict Cumberbatch acknowledges the emotional challenges of becoming a father

Cumberbatch claims that in “The Thing With Feathers,” he played a heartbroken father by drawing on his experiences as a father of three. Benedict Cumberbatch is openly discussing the difficulties of fatherhood and how they influenced his most recent job. The 49-year-old actor from Doctor Strange and his wife, Sophie Hunter, have three sons, ages six, eight, and 10. He currently plays a father attempting to deal with life following the unexpected death of his wife in the independent film The Thing With Feathers. The narrative tracks him and his sons as they deal with loss.

Cumberbatch recently told The Times that he was able to relate to the part because of his personal experience as a dad. “Tears were all over my costume. Numerous costume alterations were made. He clarified, “It’s the unexpected things that make you cry, which is so true to grief.” He also considered how his childhood influenced his role as a father. He stated he still feels the impact of growing up without sisters or girls his age, having attended the all-boys school Harrow. “I still struggle in ways that I wouldn’t if I attended a coeducational school or had sisters my age. “It’s b*******,” he acknowledged.
