Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 Free of Rap for First Time Since 1990

Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “Luther” exit ends 35-year rap streak For the first time in 35 years, rap songs are missing from the Billboard Hot 100’s top 40.

The change followed Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s 13-week No. 1 hit Luther dropping off the chart dated October 25, 2025.

The highest-ranking rap track that week was YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s Shot Callin at No. 44, followed by Cardi B’s Safe featuring Kehlani at No. 48, and BigXthaPlug’s Hell at Night featuring Ella Langley at No. 49.

The last time rap was absent from the Hot 100’s top 40 was February 2, 1990, when Biz Markie’s Just a Friend sat at No. 41 before entering the top 40 the following week. That moment began a 35-year, eight-month streak of continuous rap presence on the chart.

Recent changes in Billboard’s chart rules also played a role. Songs now move to recurrent status after spending a certain number of weeks on the chart and falling below specific positions. This caused Luther to be removed after it dropped to No. 38 in its 46th week.

Even with openings created by this rule, no rap songs were strong enough to reenter the top 40. Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl occupied 12 of the top positions.

Hip-hop’s market share has fallen from nearly 30% in 2020 to about 24% in 2025. With major artists like Drake and Kendrick Lamar between album releases, the genre is currently in a quieter phase.

On the chart dated November 1, Shot Callin rose slightly from No. 44 to No. 43, extending rap’s absence from the top 40 into a second week.

Dua Lipa Celebrates 10 Years of ‘Be The One’: ‘Forever Grateful’

Dua Lipa is celebrating 10 years since the release of her second single, Be The One.

The Albanian pop star, now 30, shared unseen throwback videos from the time the song was recorded, marking a decade since it first reached fans and later featured on her self-titled debut album.

“10 YEARS OF BE THE ONE!!!!! Can’t believe it’s been a whole decade since this song found its way into the world,” Lipa wrote on social media alongside old and recent clips of her performing the fan-favourite track. “You guys turned it into something so much bigger than I ever imagined.”

Reflecting on the journey of the single, the Grammy winner added, “From tiny shows to massive crowds singing every word back to me.” She ended the message with gratitude, saying, “You’ve been there through it all, and I’m forever grateful. Thank you thank you thank you [four white heart emoji].”

Among the clips shared, one video stood out from her studio recording sessions. In it, Lipa was seen lip-syncing and dancing playfully to the track while seated, later filming the person sitting across from her as Be The One played in the background.

Written by Lucy Taylor, Jack Tarrant, and Digital Farm Animals, Be The One was released on October 30, 2015, as Lipa’s second single, nearly two years before it was included on her debut album, released on June 2, 2017.

From her early intimate shows to performing the hit during her ongoing Future Nostalgia and Radical Optimism tours, both Dua Lipa and Be The One have grown into global success stories over the past decade.

Ana de Armas and Tom Cruise Split After Nine Months of Dating: ‘Uncomfortable’

Ana de Armas and Tom Cruise have ended their relationship after nine months together, reportedly due to feeling “uncomfortable” with the pace of their romance.

According to Us Weekly, the breakup was “Ana’s decision,” and the couple quietly parted ways several weeks ago.

“Things were moving fast, and she started to feel a little uncomfortable,” a source told the outlet. The insider added that the Ballerina star “put the brakes on” but “still likes [Cruise] a lot.”

The source also noted that the couple shared “undeniable chemistry.” While they are “done for now,” there is still a “connection” that could bring them back together. “They want to remain friends, but she needed to take a step back,” the insider said.

Their romance reportedly began while training for the intense underwater scenes of their thriller Deeper, which is currently on hold.

“It started as deep professional respect and then it ignited. Tom was completely captivated by Ana,” the source revealed. De Armas “enjoyed his company” and admired how he “supported her and everything she wanted to do.”

Since the split, de Armas has been “in a funk” due to the breakup and the project’s delay.

“Ana thought this year would be very different, so she is disappointed,” a source told the Daily Mail, adding that she “knows it will get better” and “is still friends with Tom.”

The couple first sparked romance rumors in February when they were spotted dining in London. They later attended David Beckham’s 50th birthday party and enjoyed romantic trips to Spain and Vermont.

Despite their chemistry, another source told The Sun that “their time as a couple has run its course.” The insider added, “They just realized they weren’t going to go the distance and that they are better off as mates.”

Ariana Grande Hits a High Note During Awkward Moment at ‘Wicked’ Premiere Ariana Grande’s quick instincts as a singer shone through during an unexpected moment at a fan event.

During promotions for Wicked: For Good, a video from last year’s European premiere surfaced online, showing the 7 Rings singer and her co-star Cynthia Erivo helping a content creator after a small accident during a photo session.

In the clip, Grande and Erivo were posing with fans and creators when someone accidentally spilled a glass of champagne on one attendee.

As the glass broke, Grande instinctively hit a high note with a comically serious expression, making fans laugh.

One social media user commented on X (formerly Twitter), “like so much. ari’s face and then she hits that note [crying emoji].”

Another added, “How Ariana just sang one little note after the glass shattered. like ‘ooooooo’ [crying and laughing emoji].”

A third wrote, “This is frying me why did she start singing esjdhejs.”

The former Disney star’s reaction seemed completely natural. After the quick note, she immediately checked on the affected guest, a South African content creator, while Erivo, 38, grabbed tissues and helped clean up.

The guest, known on TikTok as Tricia The Angel, shared a video recounting the incident, praising both stars for their kindness.

She said that while struggling with the alcohol in her eyes, Grande and Erivo gently wiped her face, comforted her, and made sure she was okay.

“The two of them were so sweet and so kind and took the time to comfort me until I started to feel better and I was smiling,” Tricia recalled. “They turned the most embarrassing moment into one of the most memorable human moments of my life.”

She added that if anyone hasn’t watched Wicked Part 2 yet, this moment alone is a perfect reason, highlighting how genuinely kind and thoughtful Grande and Erivo are.
