The victim filed a police report after confronting the con artist, who only gave back Dh1,500 and refused to reimburse the remaining sum. The defendant was initially condemned in absentia to one month in jail, fined Dh6,000, and ordered to be deported after the Public Prosecution submitted him to the Misdemeanor Court. However, the defendant challenged the decision when the victim dropped the lawsuit after reaching an out-of-court settlement.
