Crafts Market Brings Ancient Traditions to Life in Jazan

Jazan has brought back the spirit of its ancient markets with a lively modern event known as the Crafts Market. Organized by the Alrowad Youth Association in Jazan, the event is held in partnership with the Cultural House and under the supervision of the Heritage Commission. This year, Saudi Arabia celebrates the Year of Handicrafts.

The Crafts Market is a special initiative that gives local artisans a stage to display their traditional crafts and skills, supporting artisans and helping strengthen the region’s creative economy. Weekly workshops take place at the Cultural House, led by skilled locals, letting visitors learn about various crafts hands-on while enjoying and reviving heritage.

Held every Friday and Saturday until the end of November, the workshops include pottery, sculpture, painting, weaving with palm fronds, making candles and perfumes, leather art, Arabic calligraphy, seashell crafts, embroidery, jewelry design, branding, and product packaging.

Organizers call the Crafts Market an important cultural program that brings back the value of handicrafts as a part of Saudi Arabia’s national identity and social growth. The event fits with Vision 2030 goals by empowering youth and reviving traditional industries.

The program highlights the importance of Jazan’s heritage, arts, crafts, and creativity, making the region a vibrant center for culture and tourism. Through these activities, Jazan not only honors the traditions of the past but also inspires new generations to value and continue this legacy, boosting local economic growth and tourism in Saudi Arabia.
