The 36-year-old actor disclosed that he gave a candy to 11-year-old Dominic McLaughlin, who will portray Harry Potter in HBO’s upcoming television version of J.K. Rowling’s book series, during his recent appearance on Good Morning America on Tuesday, November 18. “I wrote to Dominic because I know a few people who are involved in the production, and he replied with a very kind note.” Radcliffe informed host Sam Champion that he played the legendary Boy Who Lived in eight movies between 2001 and 2011.
“I just wanted to write to him to say, ‘I hope you have the best time, and an even better time than I did – I had a great time, but I hope you have an even better time,” Radcliffe recounted the note. In reference to the new Harry Potter ensemble, which includes McLaughlin, Alastair Stout (Ron Weasley), and Arabella Stanton (Hermione Granger), the actor went on to say that he does “not want to be a specter in the light of these children.” And I do; all I want to do is give him and the other children a hug after seeing these photos of them.
They appear very youthful. I simply say, “Oh, it’s crazy I was doing that,” as I glance at them. He continued, “But it’s also really sweet, and I hope they’re having a great time.” Production on the upcoming HBO series started in July, and it is scheduled to debut in 2027.
