David Harbour speaks out after Lily Allen cheating allegations
David Harbour has shared his thoughts on regret following his divorce from Lily Allen, who recently accused him of cheating.
The Stranger Things actor discussed his personal life and career in a new interview with Esquire Spain, published on November 1. The interview came just two weeks after Allen released her album West End Girl, which features songs addressing infidelity and the end of their marriage.
In the interview, recorded in September, Harbour reflected on the “pain, slip-ups and mistakes” that shaped him as he turned 50.
When asked if he would change anything in his life, Harbour said, “That’s such a hard question – the question of regret. I would change either everything or nothing.”
He added, “You either accept your path completely and realise that even the pain and the slip-ups and the mistakes are all part of the journey. There’s truth and growth, wisdom and deeper empathy and connection in all that.”
Harbour admitted that if he could change something, he would “just make my life happy and silly,” but joked that would mean he “wasn’t an artist anymore,” which “would suck.”
Looking ahead, he said he wants to focus on people he can “love, be good to and nurture.”
The interview comes as Allen’s West End Girl album captures fans’ attention with its raw take on their breakup. The 14-track record, written in just 10 days, explores her heartbreak after discovering Harbour’s alleged three-year affair and other infidelities.
In the song Madeline, Allen sings, “I can’t trust anything that comes out of his mouth,” while Tennis reportedly names the woman she confronted after seeing a suspicious text.
Shortly after, Allen playfully referenced her ex by dressing as “Madeline,” the character from Ludwig Bemelmans’ children’s book, for Halloween.
