The incident that happened to a female employee working in a factory in Shandong, China, made people’s hair stand on end. Earlier this year, a terrible accident occurred while working with a Chinese woman, during which the woman’s hair got tangled in the factory’s heavy machinery, causing her to lose her left ear, head and part of her skin. The woman survived the accident, but she had to undergo a rare surgery to reconnect her ear to regain her health. Immediately after the accident, doctors decided that if the woman’s affected ear were immediately transplanted to its original place through surgery, the woman’s blood vessels could be affected, so it was decided to transplant the woman’s ear to her foot until the affected ear healed. According to medical experts, the skin on the human foot is thin.
The distance between the blood vessels in the foot is the same as the blood vessels in the ear, so this situation is helpful for transplantation. Later, a large team of Chinese surgeons performed a 10-hour long operation and connected the woman’s affected ear to her foot. According to doctors, the initial days after the surgery were worrying for the health of the woman’s ear, but after the blood flow normalized, the skin color of the ear started to return to normal once again, and thus the doctors were able to transplant. According to the report, it took 5 months for the woman’s health to return to the same as before after this surgery, during which the woman’s left ear also remained connected to her foot. During this period, the woman used loose shoes to go out, as well as continued to walk with fast steps to increase blood flow. Finally, in October, a team of surgeons was able to reattach the woman’s ear to its original place. Although this step also proved to be difficult, the doctors reattached the woman’s left ear to its original place.
