Dwayne Johnson and singer Lauren Hashian are now wed. Dwayne Johnson is talking candidly about how his career and personal life were impacted by his divorce from ex-wife Dany Garcia. Speaking at Chapman University for The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast, the 53-year-old actor and producer discussed that challenging time. “I can look back on that time with real clarity these days… things were a little cloudy,” Johnson said, reflecting on the films he had made during his recent divorce.
“I loved making those movies,” he clarified. Additionally, I believe that I materialized those because I didn’t think I was prepared for anything but simple, enjoyable family movies that made me feel good. Johnson starred in a number of family-friendly films around that time, such as Tooth Fairy (2010), Race to Witch Mountain (2009), and The Game Plan (2007). He added, “I was also going through a separation and a divorce at that time.” “You commit to a long-term relationship when you get married, but things don’t always turn out that way. I was very rocked by that. We also had a child. How was I going to be a father?
Johnson went on, “Anyway, I feel like I was really going through it at that time.” That was again another depressive episode. The only artistic endeavor I truly wanted to pursue was figuring things out. Anything that would force me to rip my guts out was not what I wanted. I preferred stories with happy endings. After being married in 1997, Johnson and Garcia had a daughter named Simone in 2001. Despite announcing their split in 2007, they continued to be close friends and business associates, and in 2012 they co-founded Seven Bucks Productions. Later, in 2019, he wed singer Lauren Hashian, with whom he has two daughters, Tiana, age six, and Jasmine, age nine.
