The 2025 Omega Dubai Creek Amateur Open was just won by a 17-year-old golfer.

Dubai: According to Golf Digest Middle East, the golf community in Dubai and elsewhere is grieving the sudden death of 17-year-old Emanuele Galeppini, who perished in a fire at the Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana during New Year’s festivities. Galeppini, who is originally from Genoa, recently moved to Dubai with his family, where he became a rising star in the amateur and junior golf scene. When the fire started at the Le Constellation pub early on January 1, he was in Switzerland with pals.

According to Swiss police, the event claimed the lives of about 40 individuals and injured over 100 more, many of them critically. Regularly competing throughout Europe and the region, Galeppini was considered one of the most promising young golfers in the Middle East. In addition to competing in events like the UAE Cup in Al Ain and the King Hamad Trophy at the Royal Golf Club in Bahrain, he recently won the 2025 Omega Dubai Creek Amateur Open. The death of the gifted young athlete has been deeply felt by friends, other golfers, and the UAE golf community.
