Following Orlando Bloom’s breakup, Katy Perry is suing for $5 million in damages in a house dispute

The Roar singer has demanded a total of $4,718,698.95 from the former owner, businessman Carl Westcott, according to the November 21 court document that PEOPLE was able to access. Katy Perry is “entitled to $3,525,000 in rental value,” which she claims was lost as a result of the dispute, and “$1,343,401.95 for necessary repairs for a total of $4,868,401.95,” according to the paperwork. The sum includes $1,343,401.95 for necessary repairs and $3,525,000 for lost rental value; Westcott’s alleged losses are compensated by $149,703.

However, Perry only paid $9 million of the $15 million sale price of the property, according to Westcott’s attorneys, thus she owes him the remaining $6 million. After deducting repair charges, his legal team determines that the entire claim is $5,740,418.18. These requests are made three months after Perry was questioned via Zoom in August during her testimony in a Los Angeles court regarding the 2020 purchase of the California estate. According to PEOPLE, Katy Perry and her ex-husband Orlando Bloom paid $15 million to Westcott for the Montecito house in July 2020.

Westcott filed a lawsuit against Perry’s business manager, Bernie Gudvi, in August 2020 after attempting to withdraw the contract, claiming he “lacked capacity” to finalize the sale. This marked the start of the protracted legal dispute over the 1930s mansion. The Wall Street Journal said that Perry acquired ownership of the Santa Barbara-area house in May 2024 at a prior trial on the matter of liability.
