In recent months, Moscow has been bombarding Ukraine with missile and drone attacks every day. According to the regional governor on Tuesday, a Russian attack on Kharkiv, in northeastern Ukraine, resulted in four fatalities and numerous injuries.Oleg Synegubov wrote on Telegram that “four people have been killed in the enemy attack on the outskirts of Kharkiv.” He added that the nocturnal incident had injured six persons. According to Igor Terekhov, the mayor of Kharkiv, a Russian long-range drone attacked a children’s medical center, starting a fire.

In recent months, Moscow has targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and cut power throughout the bitterly cold winter months with regular drone and missile barrages. The firing of a nuclear-capable Oreshnik ballistic missile by Russia on Ukraine last week was denounced as a “dangerous and inexplicable escalation of this war” by Washington and other friends of Kyiv. On Monday, Moscow claimed that the missile struck an aviation repair facility in the Lviv area and that it was shot in retaliation for Ukraine’s attempt to bomb one of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s homes. Kyiv disputes this.
