With an emotional message, Gracie Abrams shares her honest opinion of her partner Paul Mescal’s most recent movie, Hamnet. The 26-year-old Grammy-nominated singer praised the project and its creators on Instagram Stories by posting a number of exclusive behind-the-scenes pictures from the Golden Globe-winning movie. The images included calm moments off set and peeks of Mescal, 29, with co-star Jessie Buckley and director Chloé Zhao. Mescal may be seen strolling close to a waterfall in one picture, and he can be seen joking with Buckley in another. In her reflection on the movie’s influence, Abrams stated that she found it difficult to express how profoundly Hamnet influenced her.
“The weight of this film and the way it has stayed in my bones since I saw it for the first time are beyond words,” she said. “But we are sitting in the kitchen right now and I am looking back on these pictures and got immediately teary, so I’m just going to say that Chloe is singular,” she continued. Jessie is unique. Paul is unique. “I’m really grateful for what they created. You’ll be better off if you go see it,” Abrams continued.
Later, the singer posted a picture of Mescal giving Zhao a hug and another of the actor smoking a cigarette while wearing casual clothing, with the amusing remark, “Also I love him surprise.” In a fictionalized narrative of the loss of the Bard’s son Hamnet, Paul Mescal plays William Shakespeare and shows how his deep tragedy Hamlet was inspired by the anguish of losing a child.
