In Abu Dhabi, more than 6,000 students participate in SailGP programs

Inspire reached more than 11,300 youth worldwide just this season.

Dubai: During the 2025 Season, SailGP and Mubadala Investment Company presented educational programs that inspired over 6,100 kids in the Abu Dhabi region. These programs are intended to empower the upcoming generation of athletes, innovators, and changemakers as part of SailGP’s global Inspire campaign. Over 11,300 young people were contacted by Inspire this season alone, with over half of those engagements taking place in Abu Dhabi.

These outcomes mark an important turning point in SailGP and Mubadala’s joint mission to empower young people via sport, innovation, and sustainability. The introduction of Waves of the Future, a ground-breaking educational program created by SailGP in partnership with Mubadala, was crucial to this year’s impact. The program highlighted the links between sport, technology, and environmental responsibility while introducing thousands of students between the ages of 8 and 24 to foiling and wingfoiling, one of the watersports with the fastest rate of growth in the world. The program, which is offered at four local schools, is in line with the partnership’s long-term goals of expanding grassroots sailing, expanding access to water sports, and leaving a lasting legacy for upcoming foiling athletes and supporters in the United Arab Emirates.

Through school assemblies and physical education classes, 6,102 kids took part, exploring themes of engineering, athletics, innovation, and sustainability. Before moving on to Future Foilers Week, which included on-water clinics at The Club under the direction of coaches from SailGP’s official wingfoiling partner, Armstrong, students participated in practical demonstrations using wingfoiling equipment. The program also featured the SailGP Inspire Next Gen Challenge, where students created innovative sustainable solutions such dioramas with a biodiversity theme and recyclable F50 model boats. STEMCity, a special area within SailGP’s technology site that offers interactive science activities that highlight how SailGP racing is powered by nature, is where their voyage came to a close.

“We’ve seen extraordinary energy from students in Abu Dhabi—their excitement for foiling, creativity, and passion for the planet is exactly why the Inspire program exists,” stated Fiona Morgan, Chief Purpose Officer at SailGP. We are contributing to the development of the next generation of innovators by reaching over 6,000 young people in Abu Dhabi this season. We are honored to work with Mubadala to create that legacy. With ambitions to extend to more schools and involve even more kids through 2026 and beyond, Waves of the Future is intended to be a multi-year project. Through this long-term collaboration, SailGP and Mubadala hope to eliminate obstacles to sports participation, ignite a long-lasting passion in water sports, establish clear routes from the classroom to the seaside, and cultivate competent, self-assured young athletes throughout the United Arab Emirates.

“Mubadala is proud to have launched the Waves of the Future Schools Programme in partnership with SailGP, with the support of the UAE Sailing & Rowing Federation and the Abu Dhabi Sailing Club,” stated Brian Lott, Mubadala’s chief communications officer. By fusing the science and practical aspects of wingfoiling in an entertaining and captivating manner, our cooperation demonstrates the strength of our relationships and our continued dedication to enabling the next generation. This season’s success shows the potential significance of our collaboration. We are pleased with SailGP’s accomplishments and eager to keep expanding it and fortifying our common heritage for upcoming generations.

Since its October 2025 launch, SailGP Inspire has grown internationally, offering programs in host towns throughout the season and reaching 11,383 youth engagements globally. “This program has had a genuine impact on our students,” stated Rebekah Wallace, Head of Physical Education at Repton School Abu Dhabi. It challenged them to learn new abilities on the water, exposed them to a sport they had never considered pursuing, and expanded their comprehension of the engineering and sustainability that underpin elite performance. Above all, it expanded their perception of their own potential. We are immensely appreciative to Mubadala for giving our pupils this opportunity; it has inspired them in ways that will last a lifetime.
