The Oscar-nominated actress recently told Entertainment Tonight that she wants her co-star Sydney Sweeney from “The Housemaid” to join in on the fun. She has previously stated that she would be open to pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter joining the franchise. Seyfried was questioned about the status of her future film, “Mamma Mia,” during an interview with ET at the Governors Awards. “Maybe I’m just naive, but I’m pretty sure ‘Mamma Mia 3’ is a done deal,” she retorted.
“Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again,” the second movie in the jukebox musical franchise, was a prequel. However, according to Seyfried, “Mamma Mia 3” will bring her character Sophie back to the present day with some new characters. Seyfried proposed that the singer play a different member of the family, even though Carpenter had earlier been recommended to play her daughter. “I love portraying a mom, so I would love to see Sophie with her kids,” Seyfried wrote. “Maybe she has a cousin she hasn’t seen in a while, and that could be Sabrina Carpenter,” she continued. Sydney Sweeney might then appear. I’m all with it since there are a lot of girls that truly want to participate.
Producer Judy Craymer has stated that there is a draft for the premise of “Mamma Mia 3,” even though the film has not yet been officially announced. “I just know the three dads are going to return, and we still won’t know who the dad is because it doesn’t matter,” Seyfried continued. Naturally, Meryl Streep will be present because she is a ghost. We’re all going to go somewhere tropical, and Julie Walters and Christine Baranski will be back, singing and looking gorgeous. ABBA will also be performing. Sweeney has indicated that she would like to become a part of the “Mamma Mia” universe. “I’ve always wanted to go to Greece,” she said to Variety in 2023. Something like “Mamma Mia,” which I like, would be a lot of fun.
