Nigeria and UAE Strengthen Tourism and Cultural Ties

DUBAI: Nigeria’s Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, has emphasized that the growing tourism cooperation between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) offers strong prospects for mutual growth, supported by both nations’ diverse tourism and investment potential.

Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) during the UAE–Africa Tourism Investment Summit 2025 in Dubai, Musawa said Nigeria is following a strategic plan to expand its tourism industry through well-structured initiatives and international partnerships.

She revealed that Nigeria has identified three key tourism projects for collaboration with the UAE and Emirati investors to boost investment and strengthen bilateral relations in tourism and culture.

The projects include the Koko Beach Resort in Lagos, which is about 12 percent complete, the Cultural Centre Project in Abuja, and the proposed Rotana Hotel to be built in either Abuja or Lagos.

Musawa explained that cooperation on these projects would help increase investor confidence, attract more Emirati investment, and create a foundation for long-term partnerships in tourism, cultural exchange, and the creative economy.

She said the success of these projects would open new opportunities for tourism and cultural collaboration between the two nations, forming a sustainable and mutually beneficial alliance.

Earlier in September, Sharjah hosted the fourth Arabic Poetry Forum, featuring 17 Nigerian poets, as part of efforts to promote Arabic culture across Africa.

The Arabic Poetry Forums in Africa are organized under the directives of the Ruler of Sharjah to support the Arabic language, celebrate traditional poetry, and strengthen cultural ties, contributing to human development and the spread of Arabic heritage across the continent.
