On one condition, Oscar Isaac says he will return to Star Wars

Isaac appeared in all three of the sequel trilogy after making his Star Wars debut in 2015 as Poe Dameron. Oscar Isaac has stated that he would think about joining the Star Wars franchise again, but his choice would depend on what happens at Disney. “I’d be open to it, though right now I’m not so open to working with Disney,” the 46-year-old actor admitted in a November 10 interview with GQ. However, it would be fantastic if they could sort of figure it out and, you know, resist fascism.

Isaac also stated that he would be “open to having a conversation about a galaxy far away or any number of other things” if things got better. His statements were made two days after Jimmy Kimmel Live! was suspended by Disney and ABC due to the host’s remarks over the death of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk on September 10. Disney stated that the break was meant to “avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country” before the show resumed six days later. Isaac, who played resistance pilot Poe Dameron in the 2015–2019 Star Wars sequel trilogy, has previously expressed satisfaction with his time spent working on the movies.

He commended the cooperation with his cast and crew, which included Harrison Ford, Adam Driver, Mark Hamill, and the late Carrie Fisher, in a 2020 Deadline interview. He also made a joke at the time, saying he would “probably” come back “if I need another house or something.” In a recent interview with Variety, he stated, “I’d do Star Wars again if there was something good to do with that,” indicating that he would return to the part if the plot warranted it.
