QUETTA: A passenger bus toppled on the Makran Coastal Highway in Balochistan on Saturday, killing at least nine people and injuring dozens more, according to authorities. The bus was on its way from Karachi to Jiwani when it was involved in an accident close to the Hudd area, according to Superintendent of Police (SP) Coastal Highway Aslam Bangulzai. According to reports, the driver overspeeded and lost control of the car, leading it to flip. According to SP Bangulzai, Rescue 1122 and the security forces are helping with the rescue effort. Both the deceased and the injured were taken to Ormara Hospital.

He also mentioned that a number of injured passengers were in serious condition, which raised concerns that the number of fatalities would rise. Traffic on the Makran Coastal Highway was halted for several hours as a result of the collision. At the location, rescue and relief efforts were still underway. In recent years, there have been numerous serious traffic accidents on the Makran Coastal Highway (N-10), a crucial route connecting Karachi and Gwadar. These include collisions involving large transportation, bus overturns, car crashes, and braking problems.

The Makran Coastal Highway in the Lasbela and Gwadar sectors saw 532 traffic accidents between January and December 2024. Rescue services responded often during the year, resulting in 855 injuries and 43 fatalities.
