The Indian propaganda film “Dhurandhar,” which was filmed in Lyari, provoked a furious reaction from Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, who described it as a plot against the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). Wahab claimed in a statement that Indian movies are frequently based on conspiracies and that Sindh and Pakistan as a whole belong to them, not simply Lyari. He said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has turned to film after failing in his diplomatic endeavors.
The mayor of Karachi advised Modi to keep in mind that he is referred to as the “Butcher of Gujarat,” a term that former foreign minister and PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari once used. He claimed that Modi was specifically targeting the Pakistan People’s Party. Regarding the state of politics, Wahab stated that although there are inevitably ups and downs, political stability eventually results in economic stability. He stated that public finances must be appropriately accounted for, pointing out that each union council chairman now receives Rs. 1.3 million each month. He asked people to report instances of manhole cover theft by contacting helpline 1334 and to put an end to those who steal them.
Wahab emphasized that they believe in the supremacy of the Constitution and oppose proposals for Sindhudesh or the separation of provinces. He stated that police responded to occurrences during Sindhi Culture Day and that Farooq Sattar is in charge of avoiding hatred and division during Mohajir Culture Day.
