Saudi Arabia is named by President Trump as a significant non-NATO ally

Elon Musk and Cristiano Ronaldo attended a dinner that the U.S. President threw at the White House in honor of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Speaking at the event, President Donald Trump announced that Saudi Arabia will invest $1 trillion in the United States and that the United States has negotiated important defense agreements with the Kingdom. He claimed that the United States and Saudi Arabia have long-standing and historical relations that his government wants to deepen. Saudi Arabia is now safer than ever, President Trump continued, adding that he is confident Iran will also look for a deal with the United States.

The Crown Prince praised Donald Trump for the gracious hospitality during his speech and noted that Saudi Arabia and the United States have had great relations for nine decades. Salman pledged on Tuesday to raise the US investment in his nation to $1 trillion from a $600 billion commitment he made during Trump’s May visit to Saudi Arabia. However, he provided no schedule or specifics. Security connections, civil nuclear cooperation, and multibillion-dollar business agreements with the kingdom appeared to be the goals of the two leaders’ talks. Without giving specifics, Trump told reporters that the two nations had reached a “defense agreement” and that Saudi Arabia would purchase cutting-edge F-35 fighter fighters manufactured in the United States.
