Saudi authorities have arrested a pilgrim after a video showing him confronting a security officer at the Grand Mosque went viral on social media.
The footage showed the man shouting and pushing against a security officer amid the crowds, despite repeated warnings to step back. The Special Forces for Hajj and Umrah Security said the individual was detained for “violating the regulations and procedures followed in the Grand Mosque,” adding that legal measures are being taken against him.
Following the incident, Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais, President of the Religious Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, stressed that obeying security personnel and maintaining order in the holy sites is “one of the greatest forms of worship and obedience.”
He added that ensuring the safety of pilgrims is a collective duty, emphasizing that the security of the Grand Mosque is a “red line that cannot be crossed.”
