Selena Gomez uses her direct “mustache” comment to raise awareness of skin health

Selena Gomez is being honest and taking use of the occasion to raise awareness! After a follower made a direct remark on her appearance in a recent makeup-free Instagram Stories video, the Only Murders in the Building star answered with comedy and candor. On Tuesday, December 16, Gomez answered a question regarding how she “shaves” her mustache in front of the camera, clarifying that the noticeable discolouration on her top lip is not facial hair. She remarked, “Someone made me laugh because they asked me, ‘How do you shave your mustache,'” before clarifying that the darkening on her top lip was not caused by facial hair.

“It’s my melasma,” the 33-year-old singer added. Yes, it exists, but I address it and take care of it. I completely understand. It comes from the sun. The Emmy-nominated continued by urging her fans to wear sunscreen. According to the Cleveland Clinic, melasma is a skin disorder that can result in brown or blue-gray patches, often on parts of the face like the upper lip and occasionally on the neck, back, and arms. The Emmy-nominated actress has adopted a more natural approach to beauty over the years, often going barefaced on social media and talking about skincare reality.
