To strengthen the creator economy, a new YouTube Academy will open in Dubai.

The new program will equip local content producers with knowledge and abilities. Dubai The government media office said on Friday that Creators HQ and YouTube are opening the first-ever YouTube Academy in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) in Dubai, which will significantly strengthen the region’s content economy. The goal of the new program is to improve the caliber and diversity of digital content in the area while equipping content producers with the knowledge and abilities necessary to establish long-term employment. The partnership, which was revealed in Dubai, is a big step toward the UAE’s goal of expanding its content economy.

The Academy will give artists in-depth expertise and direct contacts to help them succeed on YouTube, according to a recent statement from artists HQ, a hub for content creators connected to Visioneers. YouTube Academy “The new Academy will help creators master analytics tools, monetization, and community-building strategies to secure a stable and sustainable future in the digital sphere,” said Alia AlHammadi, CEO of the 1Billion Followers Summit and Vice Chairperson of the UAE Government Media Office.

Experts from YouTube will conduct a number of advanced workshops and training sessions as part of the program. Future collaborative projects are planned, such as workshops aimed at expanding the worldwide reach of Arabic content and specialized training on the use of artificial intelligence in content. “We think that MENA creators are the future of entertainment and the backbone of the creator economy,” stated Javid Aslanov, Head of YouTube Middle East and North Africa. By working together with Creators HQ, we are able to provide more assistance and give more creators the tools they need to transform their passion into a successful, long-term YouTube career.

The action was taken as YouTube continues to grow significantly in the region; as of May 2024, the platform has over 20 million users in Saudi Arabia and 7.5 million users in the United Arab Emirates who were 18 years of age or older. In the United Arab Emirates, the number of YouTube channels that generate over seven figures in local currency has grown by 15% in the past year, with Saudi Arabia and Egypt experiencing even quicker development.
