Trisha Yearwood on the key to her enduring union with Garth Brooks

While making demos as unsigned musicians in Nashville in 1987, Yearwood and Brooks first crossed paths. After being married to Garth Brooks for almost twenty years, Trisha Yearwood is sharing what she has discovered. Speaking on Saturday at In Her Own Words: An Evening with Trisha Yearwood at The Paley Center for Media in New York City, the 61-year-old country music legend discussed how her life changed following her 2005 marriage to Brooks, 63. “I stopped when I married Garth and moved to Oklahoma,” she remarked. “I was no longer touring 200 days a year.

As a bonus mother of three kids, I was attempting to keep my marriage intact because I had discovered that relationships fail when partners are not together. “That’s kind of important,” she continued. You must be together. I deliberately tried to be there—to attend soccer matches and prepare dinner. In 1987, while recording demos in Nashville as unsigned artists, Yearwood and Brooks first crossed paths. Brooks started dating Yearwood after divorcing Sandy Mahl, his first wife, in 2001. The two were married in December 2005. Mahl and Brooks have three daughters: Taylor, August, and Allie.

Since then, the two have collaborated both personally and professionally, going on a three-year global tour and co-writing the song “For the Last Time” for Yearwood’s 2019 album Let’s Be Frank. On Friday, Yearwood, who has also become a best-selling cookbook author, released her most recent album, Christmastime. Christmastime Is Here, You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch, and Santa Claus Is Coming to Town are among the timeless holiday songs on the album.
