UAE Introduces Homegrown Cargo Drones for Faster, Cheaper Deliveries

The UAE is taking a leap in advanced logistics with the launch of its first homegrown cargo drones. Abu Dhabi-based startup LODD has unveiled a hybrid VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) drone capable of carrying up to 250 kilograms over 300 kilometers, offering deliveries in areas with limited infrastructure. The company plans commercial operations by late 2026, producing up to 50 drones per month.

Dubai’s EANAN has also developed the RIKAZ drone, designed to transport up to 50 kilograms of cargo efficiently. Equipped with advanced navigation systems, these drones can adjust routes in real-time, bypassing urban traffic and ensuring timely deliveries even in challenging conditions. Such technology is set to ease road congestion and improve delivery speeds across the country.

International collaborations are also boosting the UAE’s drone delivery ecosystem. Dronamics, in partnership with Aramex, aims to provide faster and more affordable cargo services while reducing carbon emissions. Meanwhile, Emirates Post is conducting drone trials with Amazon to enhance efficiency and sustainability. These initiatives highlight the UAE’s push to integrate advanced air mobility into its logistics network.
